Department of M.Tech In Power Electronics


Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at HIT started in 2009 with an intake capacity of 60 students. From the year 2010-2011, it has become capable of taking 120 students where the 10% of the total students can take lateral entry in the 2nd year.

As far as the technical facilities are concerned, the department has seven core labs in electrical engineering section. The lab has a modern computer centre networked with latest PENTIUM DUAL CORE and a SERVER. The un-interrupted power supply and a strong server help the students practice their sessions with much ease. The lab is also facilitated with internet facility having latest versions of PSCAD, ETAP, and MATLAB Licensed Software. The department includes 5 well-furnished classrooms, 8 staff room, and HODs room and department library.

The teaching staff of the department works as the guide and mentor for the students who seek the Degree at HIT. The department presently consists of 15 teaching staff members of whom many are pursuing their PhD in the area of power system, power electronics and controls in different technical universities. Several staff members of the department have published national and international level papers in various conferences and journals too.

As HIT is ranked as one of the top Engineering colleges in Bhubaneswar, it is well furnished with a department library. The department library is filled with various journals and textbooks, question papers and material that facilitate the students for preparing their examinations. Our students are sent for in-plant training for 1 month duration in the summer and winter holidays.

Apart from providing all the technical skills, we also provide different programs for grooming their personality and personal skills. Workshops and seminars are conducted in regular intervals by the department to make the students update their knowledge. This Department conducts a national level paper contest every year which boosts the confidence of both the students and faculty members.
